We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Officer in Credit Control. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and monitor the creditworthiness of our clients, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, and minimizing credit risk. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to assess credit applications, establish credit limits, and implement effective credit control measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Credit Assessment:
    • Evaluate creditworthiness of new and existing clients by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
    • Make informed recommendations regarding credit limits and terms based on the assessment.
  • Credit Limit Establishment:
    • Collaborate with sales and account management teams to establish appropriate credit limits for clients.
    • Periodically review and adjust credit limits based on changes in client financial conditions and payment history.
  • Credit Control Policies:
    • Develop and implement credit control policies and procedures to minimize credit risk and ensure compliance with company guidelines.
    • Monitor adherence to credit policies and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Collection Management:
    • Proactively follow up with clients to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.
    • Negotiate and implement payment plans when necessary to facilitate debt recovery.
  • Reporting:
    • Generate and analyze reports related to accounts receivable, aging analysis, and credit risk.
    • Provide regular updates to management on the status of outstanding receivables and credit exposure.
  • Customer Communication:
    • Maintain open lines of communication with clients to address queries related to invoices, payments, and credit terms.
    • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve any issues affecting the credit relationship.
  • Risk Mitigation:
    • Identify and assess potential credit risks and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and economic factors that may impact credit risk.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of credit-related activities, correspondence, and agreements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and financial evaluation skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of credit risk management principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing credit and collections.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office suite.
