Database Administrator (DBA)

Cedar Gate Technologies is on the lookout for a skilled Database Administrator to join our Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and administering our company’s databases, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure efficient and secure data storage.
• Install and configure database software and ensure regular updates and patches are applied.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, addressing issues such as indexing, query optimization, and data integrity.
• Perform regular backups and implement recovery plans to safeguard against data loss.
• Collaborate with developers to design and implement efficient database schemas that meet application requirements.
• Ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations by implementing access controls and encryption.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, working closely with support and development teams.
• Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades as necessary.
• Develop and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging database technologies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, normalization, and optimization.
• Knowledge of database security best practices and data protection regulations.
• Experience with database backup and recovery processes.
• Familiarity with database performance tuning and optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
