SOS Children’s Villages Nepal is a non-governmental social development organization dedicated to providing care, support, and advocacy for children without parental care and families facing challenging living conditions. Our services encompass care, education, health, and emergency relief, and we collaborate with diverse partners to champion the rights of children and young people.

Responsibilities: As a Counselor at SOS Youth Care Bharatpur, you will play a crucial role in the social, moral, emotional, and intellectual development of young people under our care. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing Guidance and Counseling: Supporting young people through professional counseling, helping them overcome weaknesses, and resolving interpersonal issues with peers and others.
  2. Special Educational Support: Assessing individual youth’s special educational needs and making appropriate arrangements for academic support. You will maintain regular contact with teachers to monitor academic progress and ensure timely intervention.
  3. Enhancing Self-Esteem and Mental Health Awareness: Organizing sessions that boost self-esteem and create awareness about mental health through engaging extracurricular activities like debates, theater, and other interactive programs.
  4. Documentation and Reporting: Managing documents and maintaining a comprehensive database related to counseling activities. Preparing activity reports for children and young people, ensuring transparency and effective communication.

Qualifications and Skills: To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and three years of relevant work experience. Alternatively, a Master’s Degree in Psychology or Master’s Degree in any discipline with a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and one-year relevant work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Nepali, along with proficiency in computer applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters healthy relationships with coworkers, children, young people, and adults.
  • Experience in working with children and young people will be an added advantage.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding a two-wheeler license for added mobility.
