The Youth Counsellor will play a crucial role in supporting the holistic development of young individuals, addressing their social, emotional, moral, and intellectual growth. This role involves guiding and mentoring young people, identifying their unique educational needs, and delivering professional counselling services. The Counsellor will also be responsible for conducting workshops and training sessions, managing administrative tasks, and maintaining accurate records of activities and events.
Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:
- Personal and Academic Support:
- Provide guidance and counselling to children and young people to assist them in overcoming challenges and enhancing their overall development.
- Collaborate with peers and other groups to address and resolve issues affecting the youth’s well-being and interactions.
- Educational Assessment and Support:
- Evaluate the individual educational requirements of each child and youth and develop strategies to provide appropriate support.
- Maintain regular communication with teachers to monitor academic progress and implement necessary interventions to support academic growth.
- Workshop and Curriculum Development:
- Develop and organize workshops, classes, and activities aimed at boosting self-esteem, mental health awareness, and other essential life skills.
- Utilize various extracurricular activities such as debates and theater to engage and educate young individuals.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Manage and maintain accurate records, documents, and a comprehensive database of youth-related activities and events.
- Prepare detailed reports on the progress of children and young people, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with at least a second division or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Possession of a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience, or a Master’s Degree in Psychology or any discipline with at least a second division or equivalent from a recognized university, along with a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling and one-year relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Nepali, coupled with a strong command of computer applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication, and a positive attitude.
- Preferred experience in working with children and young people, demonstrating an understanding of their unique needs and challenges.
- Candidates with a valid two-wheeler license will be given preference.
